Octave Day - Mary, Mother of God

New Year’s Day is the Octave Day of the Nativity, the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, and a Holy Day of Obligation.

The Parish will observe a regular weekday schedule of Masses and Confessions. We will offer a Solemn Mass at 6 PM at St. Vincent Ferrer, for which the Schola Cantorum will sing:

  • Missa Pastores quidnam vidistis – Jacobus Clemens non Papa

  • Alma Redemptoris Mater – Jan Le Febure

  • Beata es, Virgo Maria – Ave Maria – Philippe Verdelot

The evening Masses on December 31 will be for the Vigil of the Solemnity and will satisfy the obligation.

While the regular Wednesday evening Holy Hour is canceled on December 31, there will be a special Holy Hour at 11 PM, concluding with a Low Mass at 12 MIDNIGHT, which will also satisfy the obligation.

Please enter via the mid-block door on 66th Street for the midnight Mass.

The Parish Offices will be closed Wednesday, December 31 – Friday, January 2.
