Vigil of Pentecost

  • Church of St. Vincent Ferrer 869 Lexington Avenue New York, NY, 10065 United States (map)

We will have a Solemn Mass for the Vigil of Pentecost at 7:30 PM at St. Vincent’s. This Vigil Mass, similar in form to the Easter Vigil (but much more brief), includes readings and prayers added by Pope Benedict XVI in 2008. It will fulfill the Sunday obligation for Pentecost.

The Schola will sing Missa Dum complerentur and Veni Sancte Spiritus by Tomás Luis de Victoria; and Spiritus Sanctus replevit by Sebastián de Vivanco.

The regular evening Masses at 4 PM and 6 PM on Saturday, May 23, will be offered as well, but the 6 PM Mass will be a Low Mass. The schedule for Pentecost Sunday, May 24, is as usual, with the Schola Cantorum singing Mass No. 4 in C Major, D. 452 by Franz Schubert; and Hodie completi sunt dies Pentecostes – Misit eos by Hieronymus Praetorius for the 12 NOON Solemn Mass.
